Mage Squad First Meeting - Page 2 Empty Re: Mage Squad First Meeting

Post  Jenna of the Red Robes Thu Jul 23, 2015 9:11 pm

Jenna listens intently as Lorin speaks -- the girl asking the question the sorceress herself had intended to pose.

Ellene smiles sweetly at the blushing apprentice. "You are correct, young one." The white robe says, placing her hand comfortingly on Lorin's shoulder for a moment. "We did summon you all here for a reason. Some of you received letters and others believe they happened upon this gathering by chance." The elegant old woman casts a knowing glance across the group, causing a few mages to fidget. "However, Felzar and I believe that nothing happens by chance. Isn't that so, dear?"

Felzar looks over at his wife. "Yes darling," He says curtly. "If you are here at this meeting, then the gods meant for you to be. Nothing is a coincidence." The black robe speaks in a soft, serious tone.

"My husband and I are...retiring." Ellene continues her explanation, looking strangely amused at the use of the term. "And we wish for you all to continue the tradition of the Mage Squad that we began so so many years ago." A faraway look passes over the white robe's features -- almost as if she were reliving old memories. Jenna gets an odd feeling that the woman was incredibly old, older than even her appearance suggests. "Everyone of you is here for a reason, although you might not understand your purpose at this moment, I promise you that one day you will. That is, if you decide to join the squad." Ellene makes a grand sweeping gesture with her hands as she looks each mage in the eye.

Felzar smirks darkly at Jenna. She meets his gaze evenly, curiosity clouding her mind. This Mage Squad keeps getting more and more intriguing.

Jenna searches her mind, trying to remember any mentions of an Ellene or Felzar in any of the numerous texts she had read over the years. Two mages as old and powerful as the pair would surely have been documented. The red robed sorceress is frustrated when she is unable to recall any information about them.

Lorin almost forgot how to breathe when the older woman's hand touched her shoulder, caught up in the quiet wonder of belonging. She had never wanted anything so much as to join the mage squad - the memory of a beautiful boy's lips crossed her mind, but she pushed it away - but there were still questions to be asked.
"What is the tradition of the mage squad, exactly?" She asked, almost shyly.

(I'm here! I'm finally here. And this is my first time Rping so if I'm doing something wrong, tell me.)

Mirana Solaris walked up to the gates, note in hand. Why was she joining this...squad again? Oh yes, because being a black robed mage was not as glamorous as it seemed. Oh it had been nice for a few months- seeing people scrurry out of her way in the street, or hurry to serve her in shops, possibly afraid that she would blast them into ashes. But two years into it, she was just...bored. And then this mysterious note had come promising adventure or at least an interesting way to pass an evening.
It's quite a motley group standing around. Attention seems to be focused on a man and woman talking about an undercover group of wizards. She walks up, not planning to say anything unless she's noticed or spoken to.

Post  Jenna of the Red Robes Sun Jul 26, 2015 12:22 am

Jenna notices the black robe's silent approach but says nothing to her. She gives the lady a curt nod in greeting, then the red robe returns her attention to Ellene and Felzar.

"Yes, the traditions of the squad..." Ellene trails off, locking eyes with her husband. They seem to be having a soundless, mental conversation. Ellene opens her eyes pleadingly but Felzar shakes his head slightly. The white robe appears to concede, a small frown settling upon her lips. "The answer to your question is intriguing, dear child." Ellene's gaze softens as she focuses on Lorin. "One that should not be discussed out in the open."

Out of the corner of her eye, Jenna is aware of a few citizens giving the group of mages suspicious looks. The sorceress pulls up her hood, shadowing her face. "And where are we to go, old one?" Jenna's words are polite but there is an edge to her tone. She is annoyed at Ellene's apparent unfounded dislike of her.

Ellene gives Jenna a look of infinite patience, an expression one would use when speaking with a child. The red robe's eyes flash in irritation. "We are going to your mageware shop of course, young one. If you would be so kind as to lead the way?"

Jenna bites her lip to stop herself from snapping at the elder lady. Anger would not be a useful reaction. The sorceress still needs more information from Ellene so, she decides to humor the white robe and hide her personal frustration. Jenna smiles charmingly. "Of course, Lady Ellene. My apologies."

Jenna knows that her assistant Rosalind will have already closed up the store for the evening, her shop's guard Markus will have probably left for the taverns, and she isn't expecting Dalamar to stop by until later this night. Jenna shrugs as she looks at all the assembled mages. If they wanted to go, she would take them to her mageware shop to learn more about this squad and their so-called traditions.

Jenna is now extremely curious about what membership in this organization would entail. Although it would all be dependent on if the squad truly existed and if the old mages could be trusted -- two things that the sorceress was not positive about. Only one way to learn more.

"Follow me, if you wish." Jenna commands, preparing to lead the way to her shop and hopefully towards more answers about this mysterious Mage Squad.

The elf would listen to everyone ask questions, banter back and forth as he ate. Once he was finished with the bread in his hand,he pulled out a small pie and began to eat that as well. The small sound of chewing and munching behind their conversation, his ears catching bits here and there of it.

As Jenna began to walk,so did Adzeiryn. He walked right behind her,he felt confident being near another red robed mage..he could tell she was older and much out..outspoken then the rest. He wanted to stay by her at all costs.

Post  Tereixa Bliss Sun Jul 26, 2015 2:12 pm

Tereixa quickly followed behind, but couldn't help her finger tapping her staff impatiently. While she did get some answers, the conversation seemed to be moving slowly. Perhaps it only felt slow because she had expected something else besides two grizzled veterans of the supposed original mage squad. Whatever the reason, she was here, and she wanted to begin on their quest or quests, to get moving. She even studied while walking. If she was still for too long, her legs would begin to twitch and become eager to move once more, which could be very distracting.

She made sure to lag behind and hopefully out of ear shot of the old mages. She whispered to the mages around her, "What do you think the traditions will be? Hopefully it's intriguing. Maybe a series of trials we have to pass!" Her excitement was evident in her voice.

Lorin overheard Terexia's comment (underneath a faint, unplaceable... munching sound) and felt a nasty sense of panic in her stomach. There was no doubt she was the least experienced of the group... but she felt excitement there too. She could see how she measured up here, against actual mages instead of dusty books.

"What if there's an induction ceremony?" She replied. "And that's why we have to do it in private?" What if it's creepy, she thought with a thrill of anticipation.

Mage Squad First Meeting - Page 2 Empty Re: Mage Squad First Meeting

Post  Gaveley Mon Jul 27, 2015 2:31 am

The half-elf trailed behind, his head lowered and deep in thought, just as he was for the most of the conversation between the mysterious founders and the gathered mages.

He didn't know much elvish, but it was enough to decipher Jenna's words; and that was enough to snuff out any arrogance he might have still held. His spell was identified so quickly it seemed like a mouse walking right into a cat's lap. The appearance of two powerful mages seemed only to enhance that notion. He hid the sweaty palms of his hands in his sleeves, wondering just what he got himself into. A group of mages working outside of the jurisdiction of the conclave? Would it not make them all renegades then? But they mentioned that the gods gathered them here. Which gods? Gods of magic? If so, what are they playing at? Was the Conclave and Orders not creations of theirs? His thoughts rattled and clancked, trying to make panicked sense of situation, even as they were walking towards Lady Jenna's shop.

The progress was halted, however, by an annoying and persisting sound, making it's way into the elven ears of the apprentice. He bit his lip in irritation, trying his best to ignore it, but ultimately it was not to be.

"Must you constantly eat?" he finally snapped with a hissed whisper, shooting daggers at the red robed mage practically tailing Jenna, Adzeiryn if he remembered correctly. The elven traits of the individual only riled him up more.

Mage Squad First Meeting - Page 2 Empty Re: Mage Squad First Meeting

Post  Marya Cutter Mon Jul 27, 2015 8:56 pm

Marya falls into step with the others. Apparently, she didn't find the mage squad by chance, but by fate - how mystical. Fine by her. Now that her presence has been officially sanctioned, Marya wastes no time in shoving her way to the front of the line, her oversized staff held out before her like a battering ram.

The two old mages, Ellene and Felzar, are toward the middle of the group. Marya slows down for a moment, intending to speak to them. However, the feeling of pure, cold power that surrounds the couple as she draws near makes her jittery, and she finds herself veering away from the two mages reflexively.

She keeps going and fetches up next to Jenna. Not one of her favorite places to be, all things considered. However, her sheer urge to just talk to someone about all this mage squad business is overpowering, and Jenna's is the only familiar face. Sure, it's a cold, superior sort of face - not what you'd call friendly - but it's still better than nothing.

"Hi," she says. "So...this is all very interesting, huh? Never would have guessed that those two were going to show up. I've never heard of their mage squad, but they're just oozing magic - kind of terrifying actually - so obviously they've got something up their sleeves. Actually, you know, they could be taking us to your shop to kill us. For all we know they're going to sap our life energy for eternal youth. Like Fistandantilus. You've heard of him? Fascinating. Truly fascinating. Completely insane, of course, but a really remarkable use of power. Anyway -"

Marya pauses to take a breath, doing her best to keep pace with the long-legged Jenna. In the silence, she hears...chewing?

She turns her head. One of the other red robes is trailing along in Jenna's shadow. Marya dimly recognizes him from the introductions earlier. Ad...Aderyn? Adzen? Something like that. He is eating a small meat pie with great enthusiasm and does not appear to be interested in anything else. Marya's earlier meal of a single tomato is a distant memory by now, and she wonders if this elf has any more food on him. Maybe he's the generous type? She gives him a great big smile, just in case.

The elf would smile to himself, feeling more comfortable in the large group, most were red mages,so they would be more friendly towards him...or so he hoped. He soon finished his meat pie, licking his lips and finger tips for any taste left of the pie. Oh how he loved his food.

He then reached into his pocket once more, mouth watering with anticipation, and pulled another small pie from the sack around his waist. His food supply seemed to be never ending..Of course as he did this,he saw Marya, another red robe, looking to him with a cheerful smile. He smiled back,as cheerful as her before looking back in front of him, teeth sinking into his pie.

Mage Squad First Meeting - Page 2 Empty Re: Mage Squad First Meeting

Post  Jenna of the Red Robes Sun Aug 02, 2015 9:29 pm

Jenna walks determinedly in the direction of her mageware shop, deep in thought -- musing about the strange Ellene and Felzar. The red robe can't wait till she can speak and deliberate with Dalamar about all of these happenings. Surely he would know something, at least about this black robed Felzar.

She is surprised when she notices Marya beginning to get into step beside her.

Jenna casts a sidelong glance at the rambling mage, smiling ever so slightly. So this is the mage brave enough to walk beside her. And talk incessantly.

The sorceress slows her pace almost imperceptibly, so that Marya wouldn't have to scramble to keep up with her. Before she can respond to the mage however, they arrive at Jenna's shop.

Jenna stops suddenly, sensing something is amiss.

Why are there lights shining within The Three Moons? No one should be here at this hour. She holds up a hand to halt their odd procession of mages as she alone walks forward.

She approaches the window to her shop, both curious and cautious. Jenna sees a black robed figure standing inside, looking intently at a case full of knives.

Jenna laughs lightly in recognition, the sound echoing through the quiet night. Of course she would be here. Realizing that there was no real threat, Jenna opens the door to her shop. She gestures airily for the Mage Squad to enter and meet her friend Sikeen -- or more accurately meet her alias Arastrii Eyulia.

Jenna smirks over at the black robed elf.  "This is my friend, miss Arastrii Eyulia."

Post  Sikeen AKA Ayastrii Sun Aug 02, 2015 10:31 pm

Though she holds a candle near the display case filled with Jenna's knives, Sikeen still can't get a clear picture of the nine-inch dagger toward the back. Is the handle gold-encrusted or not? It wouldn't be any trouble to wait for her friend to show up at the shop and unlock the display, but it would require patience, which she doesn't possess a great deal of. There is, of course, the option of picking the lock... With every passing moment she grows closer to doing just that.

A nagging feeling nudges her again--are you sure you aren't forgetting something? She's certain there was something important going on today, but the entire afternoon and evening had whirled by in a haze. There had been target practice, braiding her hair, arguing with Dalamar the Deceitful (who had absolutely eaten the last plum; he was Krynn's worst housemate), and then lurking around the scrying chamber and feeling sorry for herself because no one in this city got her now that Raistlin was gone, except Jenna, who was (and is still) nowhere to be found.

Placing the candle and its holder on the display, she rifles through her pockets for her set of lock picks. The charm she'd finally succeeded in making for Jenna is still there--a red stained glass rose on a beaded bracelet. It compliments her own, a black moon hanging from onyx beads, secure around her right ankle above the amulet Raistlin gave her. Jenna's charm is supposed to alert her if Jenna is ever in danger, and her own is supposed to work the same way. Sikeen figures they'll be useful in case they're sent off on some kind of life-threatening adventure by the Mage Squad, which she figures is what those cryptic letters were all about--

The Mage Squad! That's what she's been forgetting about all day. Sighing huffily, she purses her lips and frowns at the knives. How could she forget about something so important?

As if on cue, the front door of the shop opens with a short jingle and Jenna strides in with a veritable army of people. Ugh, people. Plastering on a smile, she ambles across the room and leans on a counter.

"There you all are. I thought I'd wait for you here. Gaze upon your lovely weaponry and all," she says to Jenna, saccharine. Placing her fishtail on one shoulder, she sizes up the newcomers. It's obvious who's charge--two white and black mages who seem to be preparing to explain the whole ordeal. Good thing she's taken care of telling Jenna to call her by her alias. There's no need for all these people to know who she really is.

{ooc: lord this is long. i'm sorry! gah! @jenna for your reference, alias was "arastrii eyulia."}

Sensing and hearing the new person join their group,Adzeiryn quickly hid behind Jennas robes. He made sure to stay right behind her back, his form not being seen by Arastrii except for his tall staff. That he sadly could not help...nor could he help his hunger. Even though he wanted to hide the elf still ate what was in his hand. The munching noises pestering at Jenna's ears from behind.

Post  Jenna of the Red Robes Fri Aug 21, 2015 8:00 pm

Jenna casts an irritated glance at the red robed mage cowering behind her, the one who had apparently decided to become her shadow.

"Come," She commands of the group.

With an even stride, the sorceress walks through her shop and towards a partially hidden staircase near the rear of the building. She hears the rest of her magical companions follow behind. Jenna swiftly mounts the stairs, heading upwards to her chambers instead of down into her lab.

The strange group of magic-users pile into her main living space, that is replete with couches and chairs -- perfect for entertaining. Not that she ever has many guests over at once.

Ellene and Felzar move to stand in front of Jenna's barren fireplace. Jenna herself decides to remain standing as well, for she is not comfortable enough in the old mages' company to lounge about. She is becoming impatient, waiting to hear some straight-forward answers and explanations.

The white robed Ellene shares an almost conspiratorial look with Felzar before beginning to speak. "The success or failure of the Mage Squad is dependent upon the mages within it and on their ability to work with one another. In order to ensure that you all will be good fits for this group, Felzar and I have determined a suitable trial quest for all of you to participate in."

A trial quest? Jenna thinks incredulously. "And what might this quest consist of, old one?"

Ellene locks her seemingly ageless eyes onto Jenna's. "A ring imbued with magical healing powers has been stolen, and we charge you and your companions to retrieve it."

A suspicion starts to form in the back of Jenna's mind. "Who's ring?" She counters sharply.

A decidedly devious look, one that is not usually associated with white robes, passes over Ellene's features. "Lord Dalamar's."

Jenna refrains from sighing out loud. She knew exactly which ring the old woman was speaking of. It is a very powerful, magical, piece of jewelry -- and it is nowhere to be found.
